Description :

According to the current tradition, the first part of the 2012 New Year′s concert from Teatro La Fenice is exclusively orchestral, consisting of the 5th symphony by P.I. Tchaikovsky (1840-1893). The second movement, in which the soloists are Jessica Pratt, Walter Frakkaro, Alex Esposito and which is supplemented by a chorus, is dedicated to melodrama and ends with the traditional choral Va pensiero from Nabucco and the drinking Libiam ne lieti calici from Verdi′s La Traviata. Twenty-seven-year-old conductor and cellist Mateus Diego is a graduate of the internationally renowned Venezuelan training program and is already widely recognized as one of America′s most promising emerging talents. In 2005 he began studying conducting and soon attracted the attention of Sir Simon Rattle and Claudio Abbado, with whom he worked in Caracas, Lucerne and Lisbon. In September 2011 he was invited as Lead Conductor to La Fenice Theater.
